Flight to Taipei
February 5, 2018 (Monday)
We got an upgrade from Economy to Business at Calgary after a bit of holdup at the automatic check-in counter. All smiles after a bit of stress. Quick hop to Vancouver and the bags were tagged directly to Taipei from Calgary, so we could stay inside at the terminal for flight transfer at Vancouver without having to pick up luggage and check-in at security again.
Everything went quickly, little to no line-up everywhere.

Tim really enjoyed his EVA flight. It wasn’t every day we got Royal Laurel Class seats. And yes, the royal treatment started the moment we entered the cabin.

Of course, meals were the highlights. For dinner, the sea bass was done just perfect—tender and buttery. Still thinking about it.

Then we landed in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport at 5:10 am, after a twelve-hour flight. Chinese New Year’s decorations were everywhere.

Sounds like you got the royal treatment on the flight over. You’ll be spoiled!! You won’t want to fly economy anymore. Did you have sleeping pods? What’s the weather like there? -25 here right now but by Tuesday it’s supposed to be +2. Won’t stay that way for long though.
We were spoiled. It will be difficult to fly economy for long flights now. We had sleeping pods; see new pic of Tim enjoying himself. Weather in Kaohsiung was in low 20’C during the day and about mid-teens at night. Prefect temperature for being outside. Only one day was as high as 27’C—hot and humid, so we did indoor stuff.
