Little expectations

Little expectations

We didn’t expect much because we were using Air Canada for our all Transpacific flights for this trip. No Asian airlines this time. There is often some trepidation using AC because they aren’t consistent when it comes to their food and services. In addition, we were too tired to be excited, having less than three-hour sleep before our early morning departure to Vancouver. Are we mentally or physically ready for this trip? Can we do it?

Getting good food put us in the right mind for our flight to Tokyo. And to settle the stomach. We didn’t know Air Canada still serve hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, etc.) on short flights. And a big surprise in Vancouver: we didn’t know our flight tickets came with the private AC signature lounge where there was an a la carte menu (in addition to a nice buffet selection).

a la carte menu at Air Canada Signature lounge in Vancouver
Appetizer: Hamachi Crudo (it tasted like a version of ceviche)
Poached British Columbia Halibut
Our view from the lounge. Air India was getting for its flight to New Delhi.

Even though the layover in Vancouver was over 4 hours, it went fast. It was a full flight to Tokyo. Overall, the service was good. The food could be better. But no complaints. A relaxing 9hr 15 min flight in the pod.
